Chibithulu Photo Log Anthrocon 2006

Location Key and Footnotes

During his stay in Pittsburgh at Anthrocon, Chibithulu stayed primarily in the Westin Convention Center Hotel and the David L. Lawrence Convention Center with his minions. He started his journey at Kelley's Personal Communications in Seattle, stayed a couple of nights with Minion #3, who then took him to the convention. Most of the notes that follow are about the individuals pictured rather than the location.

Please note, all snarky comments involved are the opinion of a twisted Deep Lord, and not that of his mild-mannered and very likeable Minion #1. Help me, please, I'm being enslaved by a miniature demon lord.

*gack*

This picture was taken outside of Kelley's Personal Communications in Seattle. It's about 6am, when Minion #1 arrives at work. The person in the picture is one of the graveyard shift operators leaving for the day.

On my desk I keep a number of little things to help give me a smile. In picture #2 and #6 is "Strips", my rubber band ball. Pictures #2-6 plus #9 are all shots from my desk.

My view into the main operations area, where Nylima works.

The boss provides us with satellite t.v.. I usually watch the news at noon and some cartoons on my two shorter breaks. Here, the Deep Lord is watching a commercial for affordable senior housing. Almost spooky.

What some co-workers are willing to do for fun... Omabanfaol was asked to pose, and she tried a serious pose saying she might otherwise ham it up. I told her to go for the ham.

This old switchboard sits near my desk in our reception area. While the company did use equipment like it up until 1996, this is not one of their original pieces. Those had to go back to the phone company. Instead, the company later received this surplus unit from a museum after making a monetary donation. The little white cards are usually meant to indicate the name of the customer who's line rings at that spot, but most of the names displayed are plays on operator names, both past and present.

These were taken at Nylima's home before her departure.

I would have loved to go to Anthrocon. I would have been more aggressive about getting pictures. In this shot, an attempt to make it look as though the Deep Lord were flying through the halls almost worked.

Even Deep Lords seek comforts. I have no idea who's cushion this was.

As you may have guessed, Nylima is Minion #3, and her long-distance beau, Coyotenose is Minion #7.

I would have liked to see a better picture of Minion #9, a.k.a. Hetzakoatl, but I'll take what I could get.

This is one of the volunteer Anthrocon security staff. No idea who she is, but a tip of the furry cap to her for being a good sport.

Firewing was so kind to pose with his own plush Cthulhu.

Another couple nice enough to pose. Generally, I've found people aren't too hard to get to pose with the Deep Lord.

The little quips by the Deep Lord are all in fun. I don't insult people I don't know.

And here, Minion #8, Gildedtongue, hams it up. I really really wish I'd been able to go and meet these folks in person!

Watch this space in the future. I may be able to remember the name of this fellah.

Laura "Longtail" Blacksin, a big fan of the Deep Lord, hams it up with him. I'm still wondering if he'll make a guest appearance on Gemini Bright.

Seth Triggs, artist and writer of Buddies in Big Places, has to be the fastest working webcomic artist I know. His advance work takes his web comic well past 2020... at the rate he's going it'll be updating long after he's shuffled off this mortal coil! Very nice fellow in person, I've loved meeting with him.

John "The Gneech" Robey, artist and writer of Suburban Jungle, was one of my top priorities for having Nylima get a picture with the Deep Lord. Outside of Seth Triggs and Longtail, whom I know personally, he and Miss Mab were the only ones who made it onto "film". What possessed him to put the plastic hanger in his mouth, I dunno.

Miss Mab of DMFA draws some of the most adorable creatures. She and Longtail have formed a good friendship. I'd like to get to know her myself, but that's going to be harder once she finishes her move to Canada.

Unfortunately, no photos were taken of the Deep Lord and the parade.

Uncle Kage has to be the hardest working furry fan out there. Anthrocon is huge, and he's pretty much the head honcho. He also keeps busy by attending other furry cons across the globe. He gives a great talk at most of these cons, and is a furry celebrity. I'm so happy we got him with the Deep Lord!

I really wish more fursuit pictures had been taken, but at least this one was. Unfortunately, the name of the fursuiter and his persona were not noted down.

It makes sense that the Deep Lord would recruit plush minions...

Chakatsunstreak brought this on himself, mentioning in a LiveJournal post that he didn't want the Deep Lord eating his brains. We planned these pictures in advance. Longtail had to give the Deep Lord some assistance.
